The university is a Seventh-day Adventist Sponsored institution that offers a wide variety of undergraduate degrees and a number of graduate degrees through the 7 colleges on campus. Adventist University of the Philippines is a Level IV Autonomous Institution (The highest accreditation in the country).


The university is located 50 kilometers south of Manila, in the Barangay of Putting Kahoy, Silang, Cavite. With a beautiful scenery and close to the touristic town of Tagaytay and 8 minutes away from a commercial and shopping area development (Paseo de Santa Rosa).

Educational Offer

The university offers a wide variety of undergraduate degrees and a limited number of graduate degrees through the 7 colleges on campus. Undergraduate courses include the arts and sciences, technology, business, computer, education, nursing, medical technology, nutrition, and theology. Graduate offerings include master programs in biology, business administration, education, nursing, and public health. The Doctor of Public Health with a major in Preventive Health Care is the first doctoral program granted permission by the CHED.

Historical Background

Started in June 12, 1917, in 1925 the school was renamed Philippine Junior College. In 1932 the institution was upgraded to senior college standing and was given the name Philippine Union College. The first degrees were conferred in 1935. On June 10, 1957 government recognition and General Conference authorization were given to the graduate curriculum leading to a Master’s degree in education. In 1973 the school purchased 164 hectare (410 acres) property in Silang, Cavite. The college completed its move from the old campus in 1984. The government through the Commission on Higher Education granted a University status on August 1, 1996.
