About Seventh-day Adventist Education
The Seventh-day Adventist church manages the second-largest Christian school system in the world. The Seventh-day Adventist educational system includes over 7,800 schools, colleges and universities, with over 87,000 teachers and 1,680,000 students.
This educational network is coordinated by the Department of Education of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventist and working in close cooperation with the Education Department directors in 13 world divisions serving across the world.
With a long history of academic achievements from the early 1870's, their educational achievements are based in its philosophy of restoring God's image their students.
Every educational institution operates under a holistic education that is a Mental, physical, social, and spiritual health, intellectual growth, service to humanity and preparation for eternal life.
The AAA is a privately run accreditation standard body operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church
According to the Department of Education General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists the Accrediting Association of Seventh-day Adventist Schools, Colleges, and Universities is the accrediting body established to provide coordination, supervision, and quality control to the Adventist educational system.
The Accreditation process followed by the AAA serves to maintain the minimum standards, to enhance institutional effectiveness, and provide inter-institutional recognition. In granting accreditation, the AAA is concerned principally with the educational quality in institutions operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church around the world.
Institution that receive accreditation by the AAA stands certified to be appropriate to service the educational needs of those in its constituency and has the resources, programs, and services sufficient to accomplish the institution’s goals.
The Seventh-day Adventist church operates over 110 Universities, Colleges and other post-secondary educational institutions around the world. Each organization is coordinated by the General Conference of SDA and is monitored to fulfill the accreditation requirements of the AAA, the majority of institutions are also accredited by local governmental accreditation organizations or regional bodies of higher education. Every institution is also mandated to serve its immediate community by developing programs and methods of instructions for the benefit of local and regional development.
SDA institutions of higher education are generally operated by a local administrative body and a regional board of directors which gives each institution a level of autonomy and individual recognition.
